Two switch operating systems, and which one you are buying into

HPE Aruba runs two switch operating systems. AOS-CX is the current one, used across the CX lines, with a database-driven configuration model and cloud management through Aruba Central. AOS-S is the older one, running on the 2530, 2930F, 2930M and 5400R. Instant On sits outside both, managed from an app with no controller to run.

If you already run 2930s, that is not automatically a replacement project, and the power supplies, transceivers and expansion modules for those chassis are still obtainable. If you are specifying a new build, AOS-CX is where the roadmap sits. The two do not share configuration, so a mixed estate means running two management models side by side.

That is the part we help with: keeping installed AOS-S estates running with the right parts, and sizing AOS-CX for whatever replaces them.
