Overview
The HPE Aruba Networking CX 6200 Switch Series is a family of stackable access switches for enterprise campus and branch wired access and SMB networks, built on the HPE Aruba Networking Gen7 ASIC and the HPE Aruba Networking CX Switch Operating System. The JL726B is the 48-port data-only model of the fixed CX 6200F line, ordered as the HPE Aruba Networking CX 6200F 48G 4SFP+ Switch; it has a fixed power supply and fixed fans, where the modular CX 6200M uses hot-swappable power supplies and field-replaceable fans. This B-suffix model provides both USB-C and RJ-45 console ports, and HPE's QuickSpecs list its SFP+ uplinks at 100M as well as 1G and 10G. Does the HPE Aruba Networking CX 6200F JL726B support PoE?
No. The HPE Aruba Networking CX 6200F JL726B is a data-only switch: its 48 10/100/1000BASE-T access ports carry no Power over Ethernet, so it cannot power wireless access points, IP phones or IP cameras. The 48-port PoE+ models with the same B suffix are the HPE Aruba Networking CX 6200F 48G Class-4 PoE 4SFP+ 370W Switch (JL727B) and the 740 W JL728B.
What transceivers do the JL726B uplinks use?
The JL726B has four fixed SFP+ uplink ports that HPE's QuickSpecs list as 100M/1G/10G (the data sheet lists them as 1/10G), so they take 100M FX and 1G SFP optics, 10G SFP+ optics and 10G direct-attach cables; they do not support 25G optics. One footnote restricts this: HPE lists the 10G SFP+ LRM transceiver as natively supported only on the modular CX 6200M, not on the CX 6200F. Unsupported Transceiver Mode can enable non-HPE 1G and 10G optics, but HPE does not support the transceiver or cable when that mode is used. Transceivers are sold separately.
How many JL726B switches can you stack?
Up to 8. The JL726B supports Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) stacking of up to 8 members in a chain or ring with 40 Gbps stacking bandwidth, and the members are managed as a single chassis. HPE's data sheet limits the stack to other 24- and 48-port CX 6200F and CX 6200M switches, so the 12-port CX 6200F and other CX series cannot join it. Stacks can span up to 10 km with long-range transceivers.
