LR (Long Reach) vs. SR (Short Reach): Choose LR for long-distance connections up to 10 km over Single-Mode Fiber (SMF), ideal for connecting buildings or spanning campus networks. Choose SR for short-range links within a data center—typically up to 300 m—using Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF).
