The Broadcom MegaRAID 9540-8i is an eight-port internal Tri-Mode RAID controller designed for SAS, SATA, and PCIe NVMe storage environments. It combines an x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface with Broadcom Tri-Mode technology, providing support for 12Gb/s SAS, 6Gb/s SATA, and Gen 4.0 PCIe NVMe storage through a single controller.
The 9540-8i uses the Broadcom SAS3808 controller and provides one x8 SFF-8654 connector. It supports up to 63 SAS/SATA devices and up to four NVMe devices per controller. The 9540-8i supports RAID levels 0, 00, 1, and 10.
